Hey everyone, I’m Dr. Michele here at Higher Health Chiropractic in Wyoming, Michigan. Today, I want to talk to you about why so many women deal with hip and sciatic pain during pregnancy and how we can help you.
Why Hip and Sciatic Pain Happens During Pregnancy
As your belly grows, your posture shifts, which is going to put extra stress and tension on your low back and hips.
Second, joints and muscles can get out of balance. When your pelvis isn’t moving evenly or you’re having trouble with balance from one side to the other, it can put irritation or pressure on those nerves. This can lead to some of those sharp, shooting pains that you could feel even going down your legs, or just pain across your low back.
How Gentle Adjustments Can Help
Third, with gentle adjustments, what we’re able to do is take pressure off of your low back by removing irritation or pressure that’s getting put on those nerves, allow your body to function better, allow you to adapt better as baby’s growing, and help you have less pain or tension.
The Webster Technique
Here at Higher Health Chiropractic, we help take care of moms and babies every single day. With our pregnant mamas who come into our office, we utilize a specific technique called the Webster technique.
What this does is analyze your pelvis, making sure that things are balanced and that we’re not having any torque or torsion going on. This allows you to have the most comfortable pregnancy possible, be able to move as best as you can, and adapt as baby’s growing in your belly.
